Good American Destinations For Mini Break

March 2nd, 2010 by Alex Fuller

Choosing somewhere to go for a mini break seems to get harder every time. Is seems to always be a case of ’so many places, so little time. The choice now is staggering, and unfortunately, there will never be enough time or money to visit everywhere.

I think of myself as very lucky indeed to have been able to visit many great places in our country, and would like to share some of my experiences with you.

Let’s first of all go to Tennessee and Nashville. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting this vibrant city many times and my friend who I stay with always takes me out a shows me a good time.

The heritage of Nashville is steeped in history thanks to its long association with the American country music scene. It is also a gastronomic heaven, with every type of food available that you can think of.

If you are looking to take a short trip to a city in the North East, why not try Newport or Providence in Rhode Island. Although the smallest of all our states, there is much to offer the visitor and a trip is well worth while.

Which of these two cities you opt for very much depends on what you are looking for in your short trip. If you are looking for history and culture, you would be better off in Providence. If you want fun in the sun, head for Newport. You won’t be disappointed with the fabulous beaches and wide variety of restaurants.

The last on my list of suggested short break destinations is the dynamic and French influenced New Orleans. The Cajun food is a delight that really deserves to be sampled, and if you are able to take the trip, it will be an experience you’ll never forget.

These are just a few of my favorite destinations, and I think you’ll enjoy them too. Enjoy your travels and keep safe.

Affordable Disney Vacations – Save Money on Food with These Five Tips

March 2nd, 2010 by Nancy Bobby

I have to say that visiting Disney World is, for us, a great excuse to eat! There are so many great choice, and most of the sit-down restaurants are good quality. In addition, it is so much fun to try new things, so we truly enjoy the eating experience at Disney World. But to do this, it can be expensive, so we have found a few ways that work for us to help save money while still enjoying the food options at Walt Disney World. In this article, we will look at five simple strategies that can really help you have an affordable Disney vacation.

1. Think about cooking and/or eating a few meals in your room. If you plan to stay in a vacation home, villa, condo, or even a hotel suite, you should have access to a kitchen. Even with a traditional hotel room, you will probably be able to have a small refrigerator: use this to store milk, juice, and sandwich fixings.

2. You can save quite a bit of money by bringing your own snacks, juice, water etc.

3. It can be a great idea to share meals, since Disney portions are typically pretty large. Whether you want to have 2 kids share, or an adult and child, this can be a great strategy for saving money…and not wasting food…and still have everyone eat more than enough food.

4. You can eat off-site and save money as well. If you are staying off-Disney property, ask at your hotel for local restaurant discount coupons or promotions. Or try looking for online coupons/promotions through local Florida/Orlando websites. You may even find it to be cost-effective to buy a local Entertainment Book for restaurant coupons.

5. Finally, we are big fans of the Disney Dining Plan. The way the plan works, if you are staying on Disney property, you have the ability to choose from several levels of the Dining Plan, basically pre-paying for nearly all of your meals. And with several choices (providing snack, counter service, or in some plans, table service meals) there is an option for nearly any budget. For our family, who like table service meals each night, we choose the Plus Disney Dining Plan and get one snack credit, one counter meal (entree, drink, and dessert), and one table service meal (entree, drink, and dessert) per person, per day. For us, the snacks generally work well most days for breakfast, and the others will be used for lunch and dinner each day. It is frankly more food per person than we can usually eat, and so we often take our dessert with us since we are so full! For this level, the cost per day for our family of 3 is less than we would have paid just for dinner, so we are saving quite a bit of money using the Disney Dining Plan.

Needless to say, with all that food, we are glad to be doing all of the walking that is necessary at Walt Disney World. Saving money on our meals has really helped us to plan many wonderful affordable Disney vacations.

Save Money On Your Next Holiday Or Vacation Cruise

March 1st, 2010 by Dorothy Yamich

One really great value you may be able to take advantage of on your next vacation or holiday are repositioning cruises. These cruises offer the same luxury travel as regular cruise vacations and holidays do. Here are some valuable travel tips that will help you save some big bucks on repositioning cruises and the air flights to or from the cruise ships ports.

Repositioning cruises are not a new phenomenon, they’re just the best kept secret in the cruise industry. Just like migrating birds, many cruise ships leave for warmer climates in the Autumn and return in the Spring. Some sail south for the winter months and then sail back for the summer months. Other cruise ships sail across the Atlantic or Pacific Oceans to “reposition” themselves in warmer weather. Just like most vacationers, these large fleets of ships are seeking seasons in the sun.

These unique one-way cruises are available at deep discounts to attract new and seasoned cruise lovers alike. No cruise line wants to ever have the expensive proposition of moving a large ship across hundreds or thousands of miles of ocean without having any paying cruise passengers onboard. This is an opportunity for vacationers to enjoy a luxury dream cruise for a bargain basement price.

Repositioning cruises are not just stripped down versions of luxury cruises. They are luxury cruises! All of the passengers enjoy the same meals and entertainment as well as the same onboard privileges. And the deeply discounted tickets, sometimes costing as low as fifty dollars per day, entitle passengers to everything that are usually included in luxury cruises.

The main difference between a standard cruise and a repositioning cruise is that the latter is longer, usually lasting from two to four weeks, with more time spent at sea and fewer, or possibly no ports of call. This means more relaxing days spent at sea and a less hectic itinerary. And on some repositioning cruises certain ships will drop anchor in very unique ports of call that are usually reserved for very expensive world cruise itineraries.

Usually these repositioning cruises happen in the months of September and October, and also in March and April. Some of the main destinations in the Winter are Hawaii, the Caribbean, Mexico, the Panama Canal, South America as well as Asia. The destinations in the Summer are Europe, Canada, Alaska, New England, and the Mediterranean.

Depending on the season, vacationers can sail to or from Europe and North America; Alaska and British Columbia, and the United States southwest coast including ports in Mexico; the northern United States and the Eastern coast of Canada, and a number of southern U.S. as well Caribbean destinations. Some repositioning cruises sail to and from Asia, Africa, as well as the Middle East.

There are a few important things that you should consider if you are planning to go on a repositioning cruise. First is booking an “open jaw” flight where you will fly to the departure port of call and then fly home from the cruise ship’s destination port. These air flights can be a little pricey compared to the usual return airfares that travelers are most familiar with. Sometimes it may be possible to book a flight through the cruise line, but not always. Even with the usual extra cost for an open jaw ticket over a regular airline return ticket, a repositioning cruise is still an exceptionable value for your travel dollar. However, if you are fortunate to live near by, or within driving distance of your departure port, then you would only need a one-way air flight back to your departure port and then drive back home.

When booking your flight it may be advisable to arrive at the departure port a day before you sail and stay at a hotel overnight. This will avoid the problem of any unforeseen delayed flights that can sometimes happen and leave you standing on the pier waving goodbye to a cruise ship that has just sailed without you.

If you think that you would enjoy a long, relaxing, luxury cruise then you’ll love a repositioning cruise which is not usually filled to capacity with passengers and spends more time at sea.

P.S. Don’t forget your camera equipment and a wardrobe to reflect the possible weather conditions on your cruise.

Disneyland Paris – You’re Guaranteed A Great Time!

February 28th, 2010 by Mark Walters

All children dream of going to Disneyland at least once in their life, but let’s not forget that adults also like to take part in fun activities and be entertained too, which is just what Disneyland offers. The problem is that for those who outside of the U.S, traveling to the original Disneyland is a very expensive trip. Therefore, Disneyland Paris is ideal for anyone who lives in Europe.

Even if you live in the U.S, it makes for a nice change to spend your vacation outside of the country. With Disneyland Paris, you can have the same exciting Disney experience, but also enjoy some European culture too. That is of course, if you can manage to find any spare time, as Disneyland Paris has so much on offer!

It is of little surprise that Disney Paris is becoming more popular as they have hotels in Eurodisney that offer all the facilities you need for a fun holiday. Hotels there include the official Disneyland Hotel, which is within the actual grounds of the main site, and the Newport Bay Club, Hotel New York, Hotel Cheyenee and the Sequoia Lodge, which all offer easy access to the fun.

Staying in a Disney hotel is something that you will remember for a long time. It is easy to get to the theme park as a free Disney shuttle service leaves every 10 minutes from your hotel. Eurodisney also have a themed entertainment district called Disney Village where you can go shopping, visit themed bars, enjoy new cinema releases and even visit the disco.

Another great benefit of Disneyland Paris is that more than 80% of the attractions and rides are under cover, so there is no risk of getting sun burnt or wet. As for the rides, there is every kind of thrill that you could wish for. There are fun, easy going rides for youngsters, and fast, scary rides for old children and adults.

Destin, Florida Condos Are A Great Place To Take The Family

February 28th, 2010 by Eric McMillan

With so many places to choose from these days, how will you and your family decide where to go on vacation? If you are like most people, you take advice from people you work with or friends. Let me go ahead and put in my vote for the best destination as Destin, Florida condos.

When you are in Destin, you and your family can relax and kick back. Take in the sites and sounds of the ocean and the sand. Destin is a place that has something for everyone. Young and old can be entertained while staying at some of the nicest condos that Destin has to offer.

The condos are sprinkled up down the beach overlooking the beautiful blue water. Some of our favorites are Sun Destin, Sterling Shores, Pelican Beach, Emerald Towers, and Gulfgate. We have not stayed at one that we didn’t love and would recommend to anyone. Choose from any of the ones we mentioned or you can try another one out on your own and not feel like you’re taking a risk.

There are plenty of fun and exciting activities to keep you busy while you are in Destin. You can golf, fish, explore, lounge, and indulge in some of the best seafood and restaurants on the Gulf Coast. We personally prefer a mixture of everything while we are there, but are mindful of making sure our vacation still remains just that.

If you are looking around and can’t decide where to go for your summer vacation, then why not give Destin a try. The scenery, atmosphere, and pace of life will have you yearning to return several times. Again, don’t let the choices of lodging hold you up as any of the Destin Florida condos can fill the bill for your ideal vacation.

Eric McMillan is a traveling enthusiast and takes trips to some of the beautiful Destin, Florida condos often. If you are in search of a nice family place, try any of the Destin Vacation spots.

You Can Be Smart By Finding Cheap Hotel Rates

February 28th, 2010 by Chris Linch

If you’re making plans for a holiday vacation or travel in general, there are many, many things you have to think about in addition to just where you will be traveling. Transportation, wardrobe, itineraries, restaurants, and on and on. But one of the bigger decisions is what hotel you will book your room in. This is a decision you want to do your research on and make your choice wisely.

As you plan your trip, wherever you may be going, you are unlikely to find any shortage of hotels that you can check into. There are various things you need to think about before booking a room, however. One of your tasks ought to be how you can save good money by finding a deal deal in a less expensive hotel. This is an area you can save a lot of money, and that will make your traveling much happier.

Unfortunately, many people have the wrong idea about what cheaper hotels are like. They think they all must be terrible places and staying in one will not be nice for your vacation. That is far from the truth. There are numerous cheap hotel rates where you will have a comfortable bed, good service, and conveniences without blowing your budget. So why not enjoy a deep discount on where you will be sleeping on your trip?

When you travel on a vacation there are many things you simply will have no choice about with respect to spending money. You’ll be spending money like a maniac all day long, each day of your trip. There’s shopping to do, restaurants to dine at, activities and places to see, gifts to buy for the folks back home. All of this will put a stress on your wallet. The major area where you can definitely save yourself some money is on the hotel room. But if you stay at a fancy, luxurious hotel, or even just a regular-priced hotel, you will be throwing a lot of money away when there’s no need to.

You already know that all these other activities on your trip, such as all the shopping, dining, sight-seeing, daily destinations, etc., will be hitting your wallet hard. Everything will be costing you money, and all those little things start to add up quick. In one smart move, by picking your hotel wisely with saving money in mind, you can do yourself and your wallet one big favor and still have just as good a trip as you would have had you booked a room at an expensive hotel. At an expensive hotel you are paying for things you will not need or use or even want. It will not detract at all from your trip if you check in to a discount hotel, but what probably would detract from your trip is having to deal with all the extra costs of an expensive hotel.

Really, if you stay at a pricey hotel you will probably end up feeling like you wasted a whole pile of money on that. You may even have to shorten your trip because of how much money the hotel will be costing you every day. It just makes little sense to do that to yourself when there are bargains to be found at cheap hotels very close by. With all the things on your trip that you won’t be able to cut corners on to save money without making the trip less enjoyable, you should notice that staying at a cheap hotel is the perfect way to give your wallet a big break while still allowing you to have every bit as much fun on your trip.

Is saving 40% a condition of Cheap Hotel Rates? I think so, if you agree visit Chris’ site and book today for your next trip.
